Another Holiday Checked off the Calendar

Another holiday checked off the calendar,

More than halfway to December,

A time to remember,

The freedoms we enjoy.

Some might gripe it’s back to the grind.

Work and traffic and water cooler gossip,

Others might cheer it’s back to creation.

We took time off and it was a blast,

We recreated on holiday and

We re- created ourselves.

Found our mojo again.

Discovered new energy.

Saw things differently eyes wide open.

Minds wide open, a blast furnace on fire.

Took time off to unwind,

Blew off steam,

And took a break—

For Godsakes.

Renewed our vows,

To be a force for good,

In brotherhood,

From sea to shining sea.

Pick your path carefully brother, father, sister, and mother,

One gravelly road leads back to the grind,

The other leads us to the stars.
