Good Morning Cool Cats and Hot Kittens! The holidays have past and we’re into the first full week of the New Year! Hope your holidays were satisfying and rejuvenating. I certainly enjoyed the “down time” to take the foot off the gas, take slow walks, reflect, and spend good times with family and friends both near and far (some in person, some via text, and telephone). And now—I’m rarin’ to go.
Got some cool news over the weekend as my good friend and award-winning artist Phil Dynan sent me a new musical video he produced based on a new poem I wrote. I love his art and creativity in producing music videos and especially the innovative way in which he brings my words to life in another medium. Move over McCartney and Lennon. We got something going here.
So, here’s the poem and the music video. Enjoy! And let’s “Thrive in ‘25!”
I’m Livin’ The Dream
by ZJ Czupor
I lost my truck in Keokuk
When she left for the lights of L.A.
I found her down in Lewistown
But a cowboy helped her slip away.
I busted my saddle
Up in Seattle at the Old Timer’s Rodeo
Finally found work in Albukurk
But got laid off ‘for I could say hello.
(CHORUS)
Now my last dollar’s gone
Like yesterday’s song
Guess you might say I’m okay
For I’m livin’ the dream, high on Jim Beam
Out on the streets of L.A.
Hitched a ride to Santa Fe
Down in New Mexico
Met a girl who traveled the world
Honey, she said, let’s up and get away
She drove her Camaro to Vegas
Drank us some champagne
Lost my shirt at a casino
How, I can’t explain
Next, I know I’m out in the rain
A hurricane building in my brain.
(CHORUS)
Now my last dollar’s gone
Like yesterday’s song
Guess you might say I’m okay
For I’m livin’ the dream, high on Jim Beam
Out on the streets of L.A.
For I’m livin’ the dream, high on Jim Beam
Out on the streets of L.A.
